Course Information
This assessment course provides candidates with a fast-track route to Membership in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). For the first time, this course is being offered in the Philippines. Course tutors will consist of Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
The Accelerated Route to Membership has been designed for busy, legally qualified professionals who have some unassessed knowledge of arbitration. It provides a fast-track route to Membership through the arbitration pathway. The aim of the programme is to assess the range of skills needed in order to perform competently in an arbitration.
The course is delivered over a period of two days, with a combination of assessment workshops on day one and an examination on day two. The course dates advertised are the dates when candidates will be required to attend the face to face workshops and examination.
The Programme provides an opportunity to explore the law and practice of commercial arbitration. It is therefore valuable for anyone who is conversant with the law and who wishes to see its application to the arbitral process generally, whether as a party, advocate, witness, judge or potential arbitrator.
This is not a teaching course, but an assessment. Candidates must evaluate their personal suitability to undertake the programme. On successful completion of the assessment course, candidates will be eligible to apply to be a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

COURSE DIRECTOR
Anthony Houghton - Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; Chartered Arbitrator qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in the UK in 1978; Past Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators East Asia Branch; He presently practices in Hong Kong as a barrister, and regularly sits as an arbitrator, specializing in construction and commercial disputes; He is on several panels of arbitrators in Hong Kong, China and Thailand.

NOTE: Depending on the number of participants, PIArb reserves the right to cancel or change the date, venue and the names of speakers and lecturers. Participants will be provided with adequate notice of any change. If the Institute has to cancel the seminar, participants will be provided with a full refund or the opportunity to transfer their registration to the next course.

Registration Fees:
Registration Fee – PhP 20,000 (US$460)
Those who will join the Basic Arbitration Seminar to be conducted by the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators on 3-4 February 2012 are entitled to a special discounted registration fee of PhP 17,500 (US$400).
PIArb Members and CIArb Associates are entitled to a further 10% discount of PhP2,000 (US$46).
